Paper Towel Recycling

Did you know? The University of Florida uses almost 500,000 pounds of paper towels annually. Brown paper hand towels found across campus are from 100% recycled paper, manufactured without chlorine bleach, pigment, ink, dye or fragrance. Yet towels used to be used only once and discarded. Now UF is closing the loop by composting towels into a valuable soil amendment (as long as there are no contaminants added like plastic, metal, food and sanitary products). Where you see a specially marked container for paper towel composting, please do not use this bin to dispose of other items! Other containers nearby are used for recyclables and trash.
